A tomesode kimono is made from black crepe silk with a hand painted design along the hem line that flows across the seams. It is worn by a married woman to formal affairs and is very high ranked socially. This is a reversible scarf with exuberant hand painted designs on both sides. These abstract design evoke feathers and branches. There is a substantial amount of gold leaf in the hand painted design. The vintage condition is excellent. The dimensions are 79" by 13.5".
