This is an amazing work of art that needs to be out in the world again to be admired.  Shibori is the ancient Japanese form of resistant dyeing.  Many thousands of knots were hand tied to resist the dye.  Each color represents a separate dyeing, during which the other areas were masked from the dye.  The long length of silk was decorated before the haori jacket pieces were cut and sewn.  Incredibly, the workmanship was so exact, the design matches beautifully at the seams.   Great skill and many hours of work, over a month or more, were devoted to creating this one of a kind, unique masterpiece.  The vintage condition is excellent, the length in 28 inches and the span between shoulder seams is 26 inches.
