This cream colored, unlined kimono is made from meisen silk, the favorite silk of the 20th century modern Japanese woman and highly valued today for its modern designs and durability. Meisen is an ikat where the threads are dyed, and the design created, before the threads are woven. The vintage condition is very good; there is some aging along the sleeve crease. The length is 44 inches and the width between shoulder seams is 25 inches. The design and light weight makes it perfect for summer wear.

The jackets and robes have universal sizing as a result of the centuries old, Japanese T shaped construction. The three-quarter, raglan sleeves accommodate a wide range of shoulder widths so that the same garment will fit a small woman as well as a large man. The "regular" sized garments have a distance between the back shoulder seams and the back hip seams in the 24 to 26 inch range. Doubling these shoulder seam distance will give a rough estimate of the total shoulder , chest and hip measurement. The "large" garments were originally designed for men, have a larger attached sleeve opening and a roomier overall fit. The "small" were originally designed for girls and have a narrower width between shoulder seams and around the hips. All jackets and kimono have been photographed on a large mannequin (with chest and hip measurements of 38 inches) and on a small mannequin (with chest measurements of 33" and hip measurements of 34"). The chart below will help you translate these dimensions into American sizes,

We recommend that you use your own measurements to estimate how a Kiku garment will fit you.
Whether the front closes will depend on the style of the garment and the individual’s chest/bust size and hip size. An haori jacket has two front panels that are generally 9 inches each; it is designed to be worn open, but tied with the haorihimo. A kimono robe, a juban, robe, a dochugi jacket, a nenneko jacket and a michiyuki jacket are designed to overlap and close in the front.
The models below are all wearing the same haori jacket which has a long length of 33.5" and the distance between the shoulder seams is 26.5".
Lyndon wears a size 42 jacket and is 6'1"; Kalyn wears a size 4 and is 5'9"
Matt wears a size 36 jacket and is 5'10"; Khalea wears a size 6 and is 5'9"
